U.S. and China urged to treat AI threats like pandemics, not weapons

During their Washington summit on September 25, President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping extended their trade truce by two months and exchanged warm words about friendship. On artificial intelligence, the leaders largely endorsed the framework their deputies had sketched in New York days earlier, which includes launching a formal U.S.–China dialogue on AI and a U.S. proposal for a joint framework.
