WASHINGTON, July 13 (Reuters) – The U.S. military confirmed late Monday that it has concluded its most recent series of strikes on Iran, which were authorized by President Donald Trump earlier in the day. According to U.S. Central Command, the five-hour operation successfully targeted military installations in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.
This action marks the third consecutive night of U.S.-led attacks on Iran. President Trump has announced plans to reinstate a blockade of Iranian shipping and impose a 20% fee for securing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route. In response, Iran’s highest military authority stated that the U.S. has no authority over the waterway’s future and that such intervention would be prohibited.
The conflict, which began on February 28 following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, has seen reciprocal attacks from Iran on Israeli and Gulf region targets hosting U.S. military presence. The hostilities have resulted in thousands of casualties and millions of displaced individuals, while also triggering global market volatility and a surge in oil prices.
