The United States military executed a fresh series of strikes against Iranian targets Saturday night, marking the eighth consecutive evening of operations, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced via social media.
CENTCOM stated the strikes aim to further degrade Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and to swiftly hold Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces accountable for attacks against American personnel in Jordan the previous night.
Iranian state media reported that the U.S. military targeted an area near the city of Hajiabad.
Earlier, CENTCOM confirmed that two U.S. service members were killed in action, one remains missing, and four others were injured during Iranian strikes in Jordan on Friday. The four injured personnel were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged, while additional personnel evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
CENTCOM is withholding further details, including the identities of the fallen service members, pending notification of next of kin.
