The United States delivered a forceful warning to Tehran on Saturday following a wave of overnight strikes, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded with threats to engulf the region in conflict.
Washington condemned the attacks, which targeted positions linked to Iranian-backed militias, and held the Iranian regime directly responsible for escalating regional instability. Senior administration officials stated that the U.S. would take “all necessary measures” to protect its personnel and interests, signaling a potential shift toward more assertive military posturing.
In a televised address, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami warned that any further aggression would “turn the region into hell,” vowing a crushing response against American bases and allies across the Middle East. The rhetoric marks a significant escalation in the war of words between the two adversaries, raising concerns among international observers about the risk of a broader conflagration.
Regional allies have urged restraint, with diplomatic channels reportedly active in an effort to de-escalate tensions. The UN Security Council is expected to convene an emergency session early next week to address the deteriorating security situation.
