The United States today announced sanctions against four individuals and three entities that aid Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in acquiring weapons. Despite U.S. efforts to honor the Memorandum of Understanding, Iran continues to threaten navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including by attacking commercial vessels. The new sanctions will sever the overseas procurement chains and financial networks that sustain the IRGC’s weapon capabilities.
This action reinforces new United Nations Security Council resolutions, notably 1747 (2007) and 1929 (2010), which curb Iran’s proliferation activities. Under these resolutions, Iran’s weapons procurement and any related supply, sale, or transfer by UN Member States to Iran remains prohibited.
The United States will keep denying the IRGC and the Iranian government access to resources that support their destabilizing actions. We will employ every tool at our disposal to expose, disrupt, and counter these efforts, and to prevent Iran from rebuilding its proliferation‑sensitive programs.
The Treasury’s action follows Executive Order 13382, which targets weapons‑of‑mass‑destruction proliferators and their backers, and builds on the U.S. designations made on May 8 and June 10, 2026 of networks that support Iran’s military activities. For further details, see the Treasury’s press release.
