U.S. Sends Warm Wishes to Belgium on Its National Day

On behalf of the United States, I extend heartfelt congratulations to the people of Belgium as they celebrate their National Day.

The United States and Belgium enjoy a deep friendship built over decades of shared sacrifice and a joint commitment to a safer, stronger, and more prosperous world. This bond is reflected in the three American cemeteries in Belgium, where more than 13,000 U.S. service members who gave their lives are laid to rest. As NATO allies, our nations are central to transatlantic security, with Belgium proudly hosting the alliance’s headquarters.

Our collaboration goes far beyond defense, with over $70 billion in bilateral trade supporting roughly 200,000 jobs across the Atlantic and highlighting our strong economic partnership. We are also seeking to expand cooperation in defense co‑production, nuclear energy, and liquefied natural gas.

The United States looks forward to building on this solid foundation by partnering with Belgium to promote fair and reciprocal trade, bolster collective security, and tackle the pressing challenges of our era.

On this National Day, and on behalf of the American people, I wish the Belgian people peace, prosperity, and joy.
