DUBAI:
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team achieved a remarkable podium sweep at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, capturing three gold medals and two silver medals on Thursday.
Khaled Al-Shehhi successfully defended his Asian Games championship title in the men’s 62 kg division, defeating his fellow countryman Omar Al-Suwaidi in the final. Al-Suwaidi secured the silver medal, resulting in a complete UAE 1-2 finish in the category.
Ahmed Andeez contributed to the team’s success by claiming gold in the men’s 69 kg weight class. Meanwhile, Balqees Abdulla triumphed over another Emirati competitor, Al-Anoud Al-Harbi, to win the women’s 48 kg championship, with Al-Harbi taking silver to complete the UAE’s impressive five-medal haul.
