Uber Freight, a subsidiary of Uber Technologies, has announced plans to expand its European fourth-party logistics (4PL) business through new investment in operations, dedicated product and engineering resources, and a second European office in Krakow, Poland.
This expansion builds on Uber Freight’s existing North American customer base, many of which operate across Europe. According to the company, the move reflects a desire among these clients to work with fewer logistics partners as they streamline their global supply chains.
Uber Freight values the European road freight market at approximately €440 billion, with trucks moving 13.3 billion tons of goods across the EU in 2025 alone. In that same year, the company doubled the number of new 4PL contracts won in Europe.
Uber Freight already operates an established 4PL business in Europe, with current operations based in the Netherlands. This business was brought into the fold through Uber Freight’s acquisition of Transplace and is separate from the European freight brokerage operations the company sold in 2020.
In addition, Uber Freight has appointed Mike Doucleff to lead its European operations. Doucleff brings more than two decades of experience building businesses across the United States and Europe. Most recently, he led Alpitronic’s U.S. market entry — a European manufacturer specializing in high-performance electric vehicle fast-charging systems. He is set to join the company on September 28.
