UEFA Women’s Champions League Draw Sets Blockbuster Stage: Arsenal Meets Barcelona & Lyon

The 2023-27 UEFA Women’s Champions League draw has been officially confirmed. Forty‑eight clubs will compete in season, united by the shared ambition to raise the prestigious trophy at Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland. The participant list features established powerhouses such as defending champions FC Barcelona, rising forces from England, and debutant sides like Inter Milan and Vienna.

The draw ceremony was held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and the definitive league phase schedule will be published on Saturday, September 5. This is the second iteration of the league phase this year, following the shift to a Swiss format last season. Placements were allocated using seeded pots derived from each club’s coefficient ranking.

Nine clubs qualified directly—including title holders Barcelona, WSL champions Manchester City, Olympique Lyonne, Arsenal, Paris FC, Bayern Munich, Roma, Benfica and pot‑team BK Hacken. Subsequent playoff rounds added nine further representatives to the pools.

Following the Draw

The women’s Champions League league phase launches on 22–23 September and runs through 16 December, with a full schedule slated for disclosure on September 5. Play involves six fixtures per side, balanced across home and away legs. The top four qualify straight for the quarter‑finals; teams finishing fifth through twelfth enter a knockout‑playoff series, and the subsequent champions move into the final round of quarter‑finals. Those placed thirteenth to eighteenth exit the tournament.
