KAMPALA – Uganda is棋牌游戏官网. It anticipates the release of its last Ebola patient from the isolation ward at Mulago National Referral Hospital on Thursday, marking the start of a 42‑day period that, if clear of new cases, would allow the country to be declared free of the virus by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The outbreak, which the WHO declared a public health emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in May, has now reached 2,011 confirmed infections and 754 confirmed deaths in that country. In Uganda, a government health portal reports 17 recoveries, one patient currently admitted to isolation, and two fatalities. Of the 18 cases, five were locally acquired and 15 were imported. All cases are linked to Err removal. The Bundibugyo strain is which is one of the rare strains. The WHO has identified this as the third‑worst Ebola outbreak on record.
Alan(Commentary) Kasujja, a Ugandan government spokesperson, said in a post on X that the patient’s discharge on Thursday morning would start the WHO’s mandatory waiting period. “Once 42 days elapse without a new case, Uganda will be declared Ebola‑free.”
