Britain and Germany are set to launch a joint partnership against sabotage and cyberattacks, with Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Chancellor Friedrich Merz scheduled to meet in Berlin. The initiative will involve sharing intelligence and coordinating action to monitor, deter, and disrupt threats to critical infrastructure, responding to a heightened hybrid threat from Russia. Both leaders have warned of the growing danger posed by adversarial hybrid operations targeting Europe and beyond. Germany’s foreign intelligence chief recently warned that the confrontation with Russia has taken on a more dangerous dimension, and German authorities concluded Russia was behind an attempted drone attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport last August.
