Prime Minister Andy Burnham will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, marking his first foreign leader visit since assuming office a week earlier, to demonstrate the United Kingdom’s unwavering support for Kyiv.
They are scheduled to tour a British naval base and listen to briefings from military personnel from both nations who are training Ukrainian service members for combat, according to a statement from Burnham’s Downing Street office released Sunday evening.
He pledged to sustain the unbreakable bond between the two countries, echoing remarks he made to Zelensky during a call on Monday, shortly after succeeding Keir Starmer as UK leader.
“Britain stands with Ukraine, shoulder to shoulder, and our support remains unwavering,” Burnham said in a statement.
“Russia must have no doubt of our resolve, and we will not relent until we secure a lasting, just peace for Ukraine,” he added.
London also announced it will share the intellectual property for a new, battle‑tested electronic jamming system named “Stone Cloak” with Kyiv.
The jammers, roughly the size of a tablet and mounted on drones, can disrupt Russian air‑defence systems’ ability to track and target airborne weapons, Downing Street said.
