Unvain’s second showcase at Berlin Fashion Week represents a pivotal evolution in its aesthetic. Departing from last season’s bold, sculptural forms that emphasized scale, the 2027 lineup embraces subtlety and integrity. Dubbed “Skins,” this iteration prioritizes unfiltered realism over theatrical display. Central to this vision were fictional personas distilled into concise sentences featured in attendee booklets. “A thousand dreams softly burn inside him.” “Rich parents, poor morals.” “She is quiet, but her presence is loud.” These narratives shaped every facet of the presentation—garments, styling choices, and model selection. As designer Robert Friedrichs noted, “All decisions stemmed from these characters. Attendees instantly knew who they were; ambiguity was intentionally eliminated.”
The resulting collection radiates a lived-in vitality. Models moved and interacted organically: some paused to scroll devices, others strolled street-side or absentmindedly interacted with accessories. Expressions ranged from defiant to post-nightclub exhaustion, blurring the line between staged fashion and everyday humanity. The designs mirrored this authenticity—translucent fabrics, olive-toned military parkas, and sun-faded jeans created a youthful, ragged-sleek silhouette. Friedrichs described it as a “Gen Z-defined whirlwind,” featuring low-rise silhouettes, distressed apparel, and nearly unfinished garments with exposed hems or missing elements. Models wore personal jewelry and accessories, further dissolving performative boundaries.
Innovative sourcing underscored the ethos. Rather than new materials, Unvain partnered with resale platforms to craft vintage pieces into bespoke ensembles. This approach, combined with muted palettes and deliberate imperfections, evoked a curated streetwear aesthetic. The result transcended seasonal trends, offering instead a hyper-realistic wardrobe curated for moments of genuine cultural resonance. The collection didn’t merely showcase fashion—it conveyed a pulse of modern lived experience.
