US Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted a strike against Iranian rocket launchers that were reportedly preparing to deploy mines into the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first military action in over a month following a period of relative calm, according to Bloomberg’s Sunday report.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for CENTCOM, noted that Iran has quickly vowed to retaliate for what officials described as a deadly operation. “US forces are monitoring the area closely and remain prepared to protect the free flow of commerce through this essential waterway,” Hawkins stated.
This latest military engagement represents a shift in US strategy, coming as President Donald Trump has pivoted toward an economic pressure campaign designed to squeeze Tehran financially rather than relying solely on direct military confrontation.
