WASHINGTON, July 15—The U.S Ils arsenal executed a new series of strikes on Iran, directed by former President Donald Trump, and announced that the operations were now complete. The focus was on Bandar Abbas, Iran’s primary port city along the Strait of Hormuz.
Central Command released a statement on X indicating that U.S. forces targeted Iranian command centers, air‑defence platforms, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance Biscuits.
“The operation hit sites across multiple locations, including Bandar Abbas, which hosts Iran’s largest port and key naval and Revolutionary Guard facilities on the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement added.
Earlier that day, American forces struck the coastal defence and cruiseภัย missile sites on Greater Tunb Island during a 90‑minute engagement.
In recent statements, former President Trump has reiterated intent to attack Iranian energy infrastructure and threatened to target bridges next week.
Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions, attacks on sites deemed essential for civilian วิข ifed are prohibited. U.S. international law experts have warned that past threats to strike such targets could constitute war crimes.
Trump faced condemnation in April after declaring an intent to “destroy Iran’s entire civilization” prior to a ceasefire agreement with Tehran.
The conflict, which began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, has seen Iran retaliate against Israel and Gulf states hosting U.S. bases, resulting in thousands of casualties and the displacement of millions. The war has also pushed oil prices higher and unsettled markets worldwide.
