US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that American forces have neutralized an Iranian-affiliated dhow operating in the Gulf of Oman.

The vessel was targeted after being observed conducting surveillance and targeting US Navy ships operating within the Gulf of Oman, according to official military statements.

CENTCOM noted that over the past seven months, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has persistently targeted thousands of civilian mariners transiting regional waters, alongside US Navy warships.

“Crew members were safely evacuated prior to the destruction of the dhow, and repatriation efforts are currently underway,” CENTCOM confirmed.

This action follows a previous announcement on October 10, in which CENTCOM reported disabling a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to bypass a US naval blockade of Iranian ports along the Strait of Hormuz.

The Panama-flagged vessel, identified as the Ocean Molica and also known as the Arika Sun, was struck by a US military fighter jet. The strike disabled the vessel’s propulsion system without causing casualties among the crew, according to CENTCOM.
