Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have been placed on a collision course at the US Open following Thursday’s draw in New York, while British qualifier Arthur Fery faces a daunting first-round encounter against Italy’s 13th seed Lorenzo Musetti.
Defending champion Alcaraz will launch his title defense against Roman Safiullin, with a blockbuster semifinal showdown against Djokovic looming later in the tournament.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic will begin his campaign against world No. 44 Mariano Navone. His potential path includes a second-round clash with either Matteo Berrettini or Stan Wawrinka, who is competing in his final Grand Slam appearance before retirement.

Wimbledon semifinalist Fery, who missed out on a seeding for the US Open, faces a stern test against last year’s quarterfinalist Musetti in the opening round. Fellow Brit Cameron Norrie will take on Belgian-born French player Luca Van Assche, while Jan Choinski meets Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, bidding for a third consecutive US Open title, opens against Colombia’s Camila Osorio.
Katie Boulter begins her campaign against American wildcard Carol Lee, while six other British players continue their quest for a place in the main draw through qualifying.
