The Utah Mammoth have agreed to terms with winger Anders Lee on a three-year contract carrying an average annual value of $5.4 million, according to Elliotte Friedman:

Big day…Trocheck and Lee join Mammoth — now a major factor on NHL landscape

A sixth-round selection by the New York Islanders in 2009, Lee has been a reliable contributor since establishing himself as a full-time NHLer in 2014-15. Now 35, he projects as a steady middle-six presence for his new club.
How Lee Performed in 2025-26
Lee’s 2025-26 campaign largely followed his established patterns, with one notable exception. Excluding the lockout-shortened 2020-21 season—where he scored 12 goals in 27 games—he failed to reach the 20-goal plateau for the first time since 2015-16, finishing with 19. His overall production remained consistent, however, as he tallied 42 points, staying within the 40-50 point range he has occupied since 2019-20. It is worth noting that his average ice time dipped to 15:38, marking his second-lowest mark since 2016-17.
What Lee Brings to the Table
Despite his age, Lee remains a model of consistency. At 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, he possesses the frame to withstand the physical demands of an NHL season. He has appeared in all but seven games for the Islanders over the past five seasons and has largely avoided extended absences throughout his career.

Whether he can return to the 20-goal, 50-point threshold remains an open question. His role in New York decreased slightly, yet there is little evidence his effectiveness is fading. He is capable of slotting comfortably into a middle-six role while providing special-teams versatility as needed.
How Lee Fits With the Mammoth
Lee is firmly embracing a “feisty veteran” identity. At 35, he will not be leaned on as heavily as in his prime, but a return to the 20-25 goal and 45-50 point range would make him an invaluable middle-six winger who plays a physical game and holds his own defensively.
His leadership—exemplified by his tenure as Islanders captain since 2018-19—will be a significant asset. The ability to navigate the ebb and flow of an NHL season is a quality few possess, and Lee has established himself as one of the league’s premier leaders.
