Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as a pivotal figure in IPL 2026 with his groundbreaking batting performances. The 15-year-old Bihar batter, who celebrated his birthday during the tournament, immediately showcased his talent by dominating bowlers across matches.
Finishing the season with 776 runs in 16 games—averaging 48.50 at a strike rate of 237.31—Sooryavanshi delivered match-altering knocks, including a 97-not-out in 29 balls during the Eliminator and a 47-ball 96 in Qualifier 2. His exploits did not go unnoticed by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who praised his ability to transform matches beyond mere scoring.
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had an influence on games that extended far beyond his run tally. Opponents meticulously planned to counter him, while fans eagerly awaited his explosive entries,” Tendulkar noted in a Reddit post. “His hitting in high-pressure Eliminator and Qualifier 2 matches revealed unshakable intent. More significantly, his presence instilled renewed confidence in Rajasthan Royals every time he stepped onto the field,” recalled Tendulkar, the all-time leading international run-scorer.
Sooryavanshi shattered Chris Gayle’s IPL record for most sixes in a single season (59 in 2012) by scoring 72 sixes. His achievements earned him multiple accolades, including the Orange Cap (highest run-scorer), MVP, Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker, and Super Sixes awards.
