Federico Valverde has embarked on a new chapter at Real Madrid after being appointed the club’s first captain, stating that former teammates Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos were instrumental in shaping his development during locker‑room experiences, as revealed in an interview with Real Madrid TV.

He added: “I have grown significantly through the years sharing the locker room with players such as Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić and Lucas Vázquez. I could not be more grateful for their influence; they have helped me develop as a person, a captain and a player.”

The midfielder transferred to Real Madrid from Peñarol in 2016, initially featuring for the club’s youth sides before breaking into the first team in 2018. He has since become a key figure, amassing over 300 appearances and securing several major titles, notably the Champions League and La Liga.
