A major Champions League night awaits at Old Trafford, where Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma face Manchester United on matchday four of the league phase.
The Giallorossi enter the fixture unbeaten in Serie A this season, while the Red Devils are in the midst of a deep crisis. Michael Carrick’s side have gone nine straight matches without a win and need a response in front of their home supporters. Roma see a genuine opportunity to claim their first victory at the Theatre of Dreams, having lost all four previous visits, some in spectacular fashion.
Goalkeeping Crisis: Gollini Out as D’Amico Backs Vasquez
Roma face a goalkeeping emergency just hours before their Champions League clash with Manchester United. Speaking to Sky Sport, sporting director Tony D’Amico explained that Pierluigi Gollini is unavailable after severe back pain developed earlier in the day. Despite working until the last moment to get him fit, the club was unsuccessful.
Devis Vasquez will therefore start in goal for Roma at the prestigious stage of Old Trafford. D’Amico reiterated the club’s full confidence in the Colombian, emphasizing that he is one of four goalkeepers in the squad. “This is an opportunity for him,” said the sporting director.
