The United States commends Venezuela’s decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) and highlights its collaboration with the new administration to support U.S.-led initiatives aimed at addressing systemic corruption within the ICC. Since 2018, the ICC has pursued investigations into former President Nicolás Maduro without substantive outcomes, while directing resources toward nations possessing robust judicial institutions that never consented to the court’s jurisdiction. This selective approach constitutes unwarranted interference and political bias. The ICC lacks credibility, impartiality, and legitimacy. With President Trump’s leadership and the contributions of U.S. military personnel, Maduro now faces accountability in an American court for alleged crimes. The U.S. urges all ICC member states to withdraw from the Rome Statute and endorse the dissolution of the organization.
