Veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, October 8, 2026, leaving the Indian film industry and millions of admirers in shock. The legendary actor died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the country, including from former Indian cricketers Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan.

Patekar, known for his powerful performances, distinctive dialogue delivery and ability to portray complex characters, enjoyed a career spanning several decades. His contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema made him one of the most recognisable actors of his generation.
According to reports, Nana Patekar was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, in the early hours of Thursday. He was taken to Manipal Hospital, where medical teams attempted to revive him. He was declared dead at around 5:20 am. Reports stated that CPR was administered for approximately 45 minutes.
The actor’s death marks the end of a remarkable journey in Indian cinema. Beginning with Marathi theatre and films, Patekar went on to establish himself as a major figure in Hindi cinema.
His performances in movies such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Welcome and Salaam Bombay! showcased his remarkable range. He was also recognised with three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.
