Veteran AEW Rivalry Reemerges As Trent Beretta Revives Decade-Old Grudge Against Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed have made a favorable initial impression backstage in AEW following their highly anticipated promotional debut at AEW All In: London.

The former WWE superstars were reportedly welcomed warmly by the entire AEW locker room.

However, there appears to be one notable exception.

Trent Beretta has revived an old grudge against Kingston that stretches back over a decade.

After leaving WWE in 2013, Beretta took to social media to openly express his disdain for Kingston, writing, “Now that I’m fired I can finally say it: Kofi Kingston is an assh*le.”

This feud largely faded from public attention in subsequent years as the two pursued separate professional paths.

That changed upon Kofi’s arrival in AEW.

Kingston and Creed made their AEW debuts alongside Swerve Strickland at the August 30 All In: London pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium, where the newly formed New Level captured the AEW World Trios Championships during their very first night with the promotion.

Now that Kofi and Beretta share the same locker room again, the AEW veteran seized the opportunity to resurface his old social media post.

Beretta revived the 2013 message this week and appended a familiar WWE-inspired catchphrase: “‘Then Now Forever,’ brother.”

Whether Beretta is genuinely harboring a grudge spanning more than a decade or merely joking with a new colleague remains to be seen.

Regardless, after more than ten years apart, Kofi and Beretta are once again operating under the same promotional banner, and Beretta has clearly not forgotten his previous sentiments from that era.
