Toronto Blue Jays Veteran Continues Lengthy MLB Journey
Maile’s latest promotion marks another chapter in one of baseball’s longest‑running journeyman careers. Following his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015 and three seasons with the Blue Jays, he has subsequently played for several other clubs.
Between 2017 and 2019, Maile appeared in over 150 games for the Blue Jays, hitting .193/.257/.293 with a .989 fielding percentage.
Maile, now 35, is a journeyman depth catcher, McDonald noted. Over his career he has suited up for the Rays, Blue Jays, Brewers, Guardians, Reds and Royals, appearing in 465 games and compiling a .209/.277/.320 slash line over 1,304 plate appearances.
