The Vice‑President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang, urged African nations to take greater ownership of their energy sectors, emphasizing the need for stronger domestic firms and technical expertise to realize the continent’s full potential.
She stressed that Africa should lead in developing its energy resources and building the industries necessary to generate jobs and economic opportunities for its rapidly expanding population.
Professor Opoku‑Agyemang made these remarks at a high‑level meeting in Accra on Monday, held in preparation for the 2026 Africa Oil Week, which is organized by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and ExxonMobil.
