Vilnius transformed into a vibrant pink spectacle over the weekend as thousands of locals and tourists gathered for a three-day festival celebrating Lithuania’s iconic cold beet soup, šaltibarščiai. The event blended culinary tradition with lively entertainment, featuring pink foam slides and riverside races that complemented the festive atmosphere.
Central to the celebration was the communal “Pink Break” lunch, where long tables seated hundreds of participants from around the world to share bowls of the distinctive beet-based soup. Organizers reported over 100,000 visitors attended the festival, which utilized tonnes of kefir in its signature dish. Since its inception four years ago, the festival has become a notable draw for tourism while honoring a dish deeply rooted in regional heritage.
