A powerful tornado swept through the village of Pomas in France’s Aude department, causing significant damage to residential properties and tearing roofs from buildings.

Video from the scene shows local residents congregating near damaged structures, removing scattered roof tiles and draping tarpaulins over exposed sections to prevent further destruction. Numerous trees and vegetation were also torn from the ground as emergency response teams worked their way through the community.

The tornado descended at a time when large portions of southwestern France were operating under an orange-level weather warning for intense thunderstorms.

Local officials confirmed that 31 individuals sustained injuries in Pomas, while the accompanying severe weather triggered power outages and transportation disruptions across multiple areas. Emergency personnel were dispatched to evaluate the extent of the destruction and assist residents in safeguarding their properties.

The region experienced widespread reports of damaging winds and torrential rainfall throughout the event.
