A man has died after being attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, following what appears to have been an unauthorized entry into the animal’s enclosure, police confirmed.

South Yorkshire Police received reports at approximately 1:35 p.m. that an individual had entered the enclosure. The attack resulted in serious injuries, and emergency services attended the scene. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the location.

The victim’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist officers. Authorities confirmed that the tiger involved in the incident was unharmed and remained secure within its enclosure, posing no ongoing threat to the public.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated immediately following the incident and will remain closed on Sunday. The park stated in a release that its emergency response protocols were activated promptly, and it is cooperating closely with law enforcement to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.

“The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff, and animals remains our highest priority,” the park said. “We are deeply saddened by this tragic outcome.”

Footage circulating on social media appears to show a man wearing a black jumper seated on the ground of the enclosure as the tiger approached. Police have urged the public not to share or view such distressing content.

Emergency services dispatched multiple units to the scene, including ambulances and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, along with a specialist doctor, according to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The incident is under investigation by South Yorkshire Police in collaboration with zoo officials and relevant regulatory bodies.
