LONDON — A man suffered serious injuries on Saturday after entering the tiger enclosure at a wildlife park in northern England, according to police.
The incident took place at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster around 1:35 p.m., according to South Yorkshire Police. The tigers remained within the enclosure, and there was no threat to the general public, the force said.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service responded with two ground ambulances, a helicopter emergency medical service, and a physician to the site. No immediate details regarding the victim’s condition were released.
The park stated that it is cooperating closely with authorities to determine exactly what occurred.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009, and its “Land of the Tigers” attraction debuted in 2011.
The attraction comprises a purpose‑built two‑acre reserve for the endangered Amur (Siberian) tiger. Visitors can observe the animals via a 300‑meter raised walkway that winds through wooded and grassy areas, leading to a waterfall pool where the tigers may be seen playing.
