Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Smashes First Home Run at Rogers Centre This Season

TORONTO – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launched his first home run of the 2026 campaign at Rogers Centre, lifting the Blue Jays to an 8‑1 victory over Baltimore on Sunday.

The 2023 Home Run Derby winner sent a 350‑foot drive into the left‑field bullpen off starter Trevor Rogers in the fifth inning. The shot marked Guerrero’s ninth round‑trip of the season and came on Toronto’s 75th home game.

Manager John Schneider praised the impact: “It looked like it was a walk‑off homer. Vlad’s our guy. It’s just nice to get that out of the way.”

Guerrero entered the contest batting .265 with 56 RBIs across 135 games.

A sellout crowd of 41,805 cheered as Guerrero took a curtain call, saying through an interpreter that the moment “obviously means a lot.”

The six‑time All‑Star’s previous regular‑season home run in Toronto dated to a loss against Texas on Aug. 17, 2025, ending an 84‑game stretch without a homer; his prior longest drought was 33 consecutive games spanning 2022‑23.

Sunday also marked Guerrero’s second four‑hit game of the season; he nearly added another home run in his second at‑bat, sending a double deep into right‑center field.
