Rhian Wilkinson has urged her Wales team to remain fully focused, insisting they cannot take their 1-0 lead for granted ahead of the second leg of their World Cup play-off semi-final against Albania.
Following their narrow victory in the first leg, Wales are strong favorites to advance closer to their first-ever World Cup tournament.
A successful result in Llanelli would also secure the team’s longest unbeaten streak, reaching ten consecutive matches.
However, the Wales head coach warned that the job is far from finished, reflecting on the first leg in Shkoder where she felt her side “got away with one.”
“That Albanian team is on the brink of something truly special because they fight for every single ball,” Wilkinson noted.
“Speaking with some of the more experienced players on the team, they recall being in that exact position—ranked lower, fighting for every result, and catching opponents off guard.
“We are highly aware of the threat they pose; this is a dangerous Albanian side. We cannot afford to sit back and relax, because they will be knocking on the door from the first whistle.”
