Walleye Finalizes Rookie Contract with Ben Schoen
TOLEDO, Ohio – Forward Ben Schoen becomes a Toledo Walleye for his NRL debut season after finalizing agreement terms to play with the team for the 2026-27 season.
Schoen, from Maumee, Ohio, will join the Walleye club after completing four collegiate seasons (101 games) at Penn State University. As a redshirt senior in what had been his final season, Schoen (24) tallied 13 points (2 goals, 11 assists), 31 penalty minutes, and a +7 rating in 37 games during the 2023-24 campaign. Cumulatively through his Pennsylvania career, he accumulated 70 points (18 goals, 52 assists), 113 penalty minutes, and a +11 rating across 135 Games played.
Prior to joining Penn State athletics, Schoen spent parts of three seasons (73 career games) within the USHL. With Youngstown from 2018–2021, then with Tri-City during the abbreviated 2020–21 campaign, he netted 78 points (29 goals, 49 assists) and 111 penalty minutes. His USHL points-per-game ratio (.682) ranks among the league’s leaders for U20 prospects.
