Walmart customers across multiple states are advised to check their pantries following a recall of more than 44,000 cans of Great Value Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice from Concentrate. Pacific Coast Producers initiated the recall of 1,836 cases—each containing 24 cans, totaling 44,064 units—after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified potential lead contamination.
The affected 15-ounce cans carry UPC 078742369570, lot code “6FCB 04 C2263,” and a “Best If Used By” date of September 1, 2027. Distribution was limited to Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wyoming.
The FDA classified the action as a Class II recall on October 20, following the company’s initial recall notice on October 1. This classification indicates that exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or that the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. The agency warned that the product may contain elevated levels of lead.
Consumers who purchased the recalled product should not consume it and may return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. This recall follows another recent Walmart action involving nearly 4.5 million Expert Grill brushes due to wire bristle detachment hazards.
