Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy’s tenure as leaders of Warner Bros. is drawing to a close.
According to multiple sources cited by Variety, De Luca and Abdy will not be part of David Ellison’s new management team once the $110 billion merger between Paramount, Skydance, and Warner Bros. Discovery closes. The deal is slated to finalize on Oct. 6.
Paramount’s film executives Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein are expected to oversee the combined studios, which will each produce about 30 movies annually under the agreement. It remains unclear whether De Luca and Abdy will stay on for a transition period.
The announcement comes nearly a year after WBD CEO David Zaslav renewed their contracts, following strong box‑office performances from films such as Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” “A Minecraft Movie” and “Weapons.” Warner Bros. also set an industry record with 11 Academy Awards from 30 nominations, including a Best Picture win for Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.”
Ellison is keeping details of his new leadership structure confidential. While Cindy Holland has left her role as head of streaming for Paramount+, the company has not confirmed whether Casey Bloys will take the top streaming position in the merged entity. Ellison has named former Mattel CEO Ynon Kriez as co‑CEO to manage day‑to‑day operations and integration.
The news was originally reported by Puck. Neither Paramount nor Warner Bros. have responded to requests for comment.
