Kings Of Leon opened the inaugural State Fayre Festival with a high‑energy set of hits, as captured in the footage below.
The Tennessee rockers headlined the festival’s opening night at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, on June 26, following acts such as The Black Crowes, Stephen Wilson Jr, Kingfishr and others.
State Fayre, promoted as the UK’s largest music‑and‑barbecue festival, spans the weekend and blends rock, Americana and country‑flavoured performances with American‑style food, décor and fairground rides.
As the festival kicked off during a record‑breaking heatwave and the aroma of barbecue filled the venue, frontman Caleb Followill told the crowd, “It feels like being home.”
Kings Of Leon began with “Find Me” and then delivered fan favourites including “The Bucket”, “Fans”, “On Call”, “Use Somebody”, “Waste A Moment”, “Closer”, “Molly’s Chambers”, “Black Thumbnail” and “Sex On Fire”.

The group last released the album “Can We Please Have Fun” in 2024. NME awarded it three stars, describing it as “easily KOL’s most promising, liberated record for over a decade” while noting it remained “surprisingly restrained in places”.
In an interview with NME around the release, the band spoke about rediscovering their enthusiasm during the recording process.
“It was the most enjoyable record I’ve ever been a part of,” Caleb remarked, with drummer Nathan Followill adding, “It’s like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable.”
