TITLE]Waves Resumes Air Conditioner Production Amid Economic Recovery Efforts
Waves Home Appliances Limited (WAVESAPP) announced Monday the resumption of air conditioner (AC) assembly operations, with production restarting for its T3 and T1 models across multiple sizes aligned with market demand.
The company disclosed this revival in a recent notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, attributing the delay to temporary suspensions caused by 2022 nation-wide import restrictions. These measures, implemented during economic stabilization efforts and monetary policy adjustments, strained the company’s working capital, forcing production halts for ACs while preserving operations for flagship products like deep freezers and refrigerators.
With recent improvements in financial stability and optimized resource allocation, Waves has reactivated its supply chain partnerships to secure bulk imports. The firm revealed its collaboration continuation with a prominent Chinese AC kit supplier, whose products reach multiple major brands in Pakistan. The first shipment of 5,000 complete knock-down (CKD) AC kits has arrived, enabling feedstock replenishment and staff redeployment.
Generated revenue from renewed AC operations will be recognized in the current quarter, with management projecting favorable contributions to profitability. This milestone also creates capacity for reinstating production lines dedicated to washing machines, microwave ovens, and water dispensers in subsequent phases.
Originally established as Samin Textiles Limited on November 27, 1989, Waves rebranded as a public limited company specializing in manufacturing, assembling, and distributing consumer appliances. The company now operates across domestic markets with expanded production capabilities following this operational revival.
