With 14 games on the docket, nearly the entire league is in action, creating no shortage of wagering opportunities for today’s NBA best bets. Below are three expert selections worth considering.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Brooklyn Nets
Neither squad enters this matchup with much momentum. Charlotte has dropped four straight, most recently a 124-91 defeat to Detroit. Brooklyn snapped its winless streak against Indiana before falling to the Knicks.
Although these teams recently played to a 110-103 finish—a result that might otherwise point toward the under—two struggling offenses do not automatically become productive. Facing a weak defense can help, but that advantage applies to both sides.
My Pick: Charlotte -3.5 at -110
With Kon Knueppel and Coby White expected in the lineup, the Hornets should generate enough offense to defeat a struggling Brooklyn team by at least five points. If either were sidelined, the under would be the stronger lean; since both are probable, back Charlotte to cover the spread.
Dallas Mavericks vs. San Antonio Spurs
Do not assume San Antonio will cover the 11.5-point spread simply because it defeated Dallas by 16 points in a previous meeting. The Mavericks were without Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg for that contest, while the Spurs fielded their full roster.
Dallas dropped its most recent outing to Sacramento on Monday, a game Irving missed. With both Irving and Flagg active, the Mavericks’ offense becomes significantly more dangerous. San Antonio’s defense is respectable, but it should not be expected to neutralize both stars.
My Pick: Dallas +11.5 at -112
San Antonio is the superior team and should win, but Irving and Flagg give Dallas a realistic chance to remain within double digits.
Indiana Pacers vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis narrowly fell 135-134 to New Orleans in a high-scoring thriller, while Indiana has dropped five consecutive games, including a 108-104 loss to Atlanta. With Tyrese Halliburton still weeks away from returning, the Pacers are unlikely to turn things around soon.
Memphis boasts the NBA’s highest-scoring offense at 123 points per game. Indiana’s defense ranks 21st, allowing 115.6 points per game. Even at full strength, Indiana lacks the defensive capability to contain the league’s most potent offense.
My Pick: Memphis -6.5 at -110
The spread seems surprisingly narrow. Memphis would likely cover against a healthy Indiana roster; against a depleted one, the Grizzlies should cover comfortably.
