Amir Jangoo, the wicket‑keeper‑batter, has been added to West Indies’ squad for the upcoming five‑match T20I series against India as cover for Jewel Andrew, who sustained a finger injury during the third ODI on Saturday. Andrew has not been ruled out of the T20I series; he remains under medical monitoring, according to a CWI statement.

Andrew, 19, was dismissed for a duck on his first ball in the first ODI and returned to the side for the third match after missing the second. He injured his finger while taking a catch to dismiss Naman Dhir inside the ring at cover, requiring a hospital visit for scans. No fracture was detected, and although he did not bat in West Indies’ successful chase, his participation in the series is still being assessed.

Jangoo, 29, is primarily a multi‑format player but has appeared in seven T20Is since his international debut in December 2024. In those matches he has scored 163 runs at a strike rate of 120.74. Across 34 T20 appearances his strike rate is lower at 104.25. He contributed 213 runs to Antigua and Barbuda Falcons’ CPL 2026 triumph in September, including a crucial 57* off 34 balls with four fours and three sixes in the final, helping the Falcons win by eight wickets against Jamaica Kingsmen. His strike rate in that match was 107.57.

In the ODI series against India, Jangoo was in fine form, posting 58* not out, 114 and 67, finishing third among run‑scorers with a total of 239 runs, behind Shubman Gill (334) and Shai Hope (278). The first T20I will take place in Lucknow on Tuesday, followed by matches in Ranchi (October 9), Indore (October 11), Hyderabad (October 14) and Bengaluru (October 17).
