White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to Resign, Citing Family Priorities

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced her resignation on Wednesday, effective at the end of the month, citing her commitment to her family following the birth of her daughter in May.

Since returning from maternity leave in June, Leavitt said she has struggled to balance the demands of the role with being a present mother to her two young children. “I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” she said in her resignation statement.

Leavitt described her departure as a “bittersweet decision,” expressing gratitude to President Donald Trump for appointing and supporting her in the position. She noted that Trump has asked her to continue serving as a “top advisor to him on the outside” and pledged to remain “a vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump responded, “I completely understand and respect Karoline’s decision. She did a phenomenal job fighting for Justice and will always be a top advisor to me on the outside.”

Leavitt’s resignation comes as the youngest individual ever to serve as White House Press Secretary, having assumed the role at age 27. In her statement, she criticized Democrats, accusing them of seeking to “destroy everything great about America.”
