While widely recognized for his work as an actor and comedian, Whitmer Thomas is continuing to expand his musical footprint. The Alabama native has officially signed with the prestigious Fire Talk Records, following the release of his previous EP, Tilt. His latest single, “Candy Corn,” is a relaxed, indie-country track produced by Brad Cook. The song explores the complexities of nostalgia and the passage of time, with Thomas noting that the track is his most ambitious attempt to reflect on the sensations of youth from the perspective of an aging songwriter.

The accompanying music video for “Candy Corn” features comedian Joe Pera and actress Carmen Christopher (known for The Bear and Shrill). The narrative begins with Thomas filming Pera listening to the new track, but the situation shifts when Christopher’s character takes Thomas’s phone to explore New York City. Acting as a wide-eyed tourist, she wanders through the city and captures the chaotic energy of New York during the Knicks’ NBA championship celebrations.
