After training with both Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic, Dillian Whyte has outlined why a potential bout between them could pose significant challenges for the British heavyweight.
‘The Body Snatcher’ suffered a ruthless first‑round stoppage in August, during which he struggled to halt Itauma’s momentum.
Nevertheless, the emerging heavyweight star proved far more powerful and quicker, demonstrating an exceptional ability to read his opponent and select effective shots.
These traits were evident in his dominant five‑round victory over Jermaine Franklin in March.
Soon after securing his most impressive professional win to date, the 21‑year‑old revealed that he had hoped to meet world‑ranked contender Hrgovic in Manchester.
Although that matchup did not occur, Hrgovic now appears poised to face Itauma in London later this year.
The 33‑year‑old delivered a straightforward third‑round stoppage of Dave Allen earlier this month and, in his post‑fight interview, expressed his willingness to face the fighter widely regarded as a future world champion.
Speaking to IFL TV, Whyte noted that Itauma is likely to triumph in this test, though not without encountering difficulty.
“Good fight. Dangerous fight for Moses, but good fight for Moses. I think the fight’s more beneficial for Moses than it is for Hrgovic.
“Hrgovic is a good fighter – he’s tough. [But] he’s not the most powerful guy, he gets cut a lot and, if you’re mobile, he seems to struggle.
“Moses is quite mobile, but I think it’s a good fight. Perfect fight for Moses at this [stage] in his career, and I think it’s a winnable fight for Hrgovic.”
