The win also established a new benchmark for freshman comedies, amassing 14 awards and surpassing *The Studio*’s previous high of 13 from 2025.
Other contenders in the category were *Abbott Elementary* (ABC), the penultimate season of *The Bear* (FX/Hulu), the final season of *Hacks* (HBO Max), *Margo’s Got Money Troubles* (Apple TV), *Nobody Wants This* (Netflix), *Only Murders in the Building* (Hulu), and *Shrinking* (Apple TV).
*Hacks* led the nominations with 24 nods, setting a new single‑season record for comedy series, while newcomer *Widow’s Bay* placed 19th among first‑year entries.
*Widow’s Bay* was created by Katie Dippold.
The Studio captured the award last year, along with multiple other honors. It posted 23 nominations in 2025, matching the previous comedy‑series nomination record—later eclipsed by *Hacks* this season. Seth Rogen’s series, *The Studio*, faced the same competitors as this year’s field, except that the final season of *What We Do in the Shadows* has been replaced by the first season of *Widow’s Bay* in the lineup.
