The monster-hunting genre has seen significant evolution over the years, particularly with its expansion on Steam. While the series once catered to a niche audience, it eventually transitioned into a global phenomenon. Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World served as the primary catalyst for this mainstream breakthrough, followed closely by the massive success of Monster Hunter Rise, which has sold over 15 million copies.
Now, a new entry in the genre has emerged on Steam. Wild Wild Eden is an ambitious title that promises to blend monster hunting with taming mechanics in a vast open world.
Developed by Magnus Games Studio, Wild Wild Eden is a survival and monster-taming RPG that synthesizes several classic gaming mechanics. The developers describe the project as an open-world experience where players act as tribal chiefs, building a thriving base while bonding with, feeding, and protecting their monster companions in a primitive fantasy setting.
Players will explore an uncharted world accompanied by a variety of creatures, ranging from adorable pets to formidable beasts. The gameplay loop includes resource gathering—some of which can be done while riding creatures—alongside crafting and base construction. To ensure the experience extends beyond simple survival, the developers have also teased a dedicated combat system and epic boss encounters.
While Wild Wild Eden is currently positioned as a single-player experience, the developers have noted that the maximum number of concurrent players is still “TBA,” suggesting that multiplayer functionality may be under consideration.
The title appears to occupy a middle ground between traditional survival games and creature-collection RPGs like Pokémon. This influence is evident in the taming mechanics, where players use specific items, such as sleeping potions, to capture wild creatures.
Published by Shueisha Games, Wild Wild Eden is scheduled for a Q1 2027 release, with an Early Access launch planned for the Spring of 2027. The game is currently listed exclusively for Steam.
