The finals of AEW’s Owen Hart Cup are set to take place at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door later this month, with the men’s tournament field now finalized following last week’s events.
The highly anticipated men’s final will feature former rivals turned allies Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland, each seeking to capture the prestigious tournament for the first time in their careers.
With the event scheduled at Wembley Stadium in Ospreay’s hometown of London, the Aerial Assassin appears determined to secure victory in front of his home crowd.
Former AEW World Champion intervenes as tensions escalate
Before their final showdown, Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay met in the ring for a tense exchange. Ospreay confronted Strickland for not intervening during a Death Riders attack at last year’s Forbidden Door event. He emphasized his ambition to win the Owen Hart Cup at Wembley, warning Strickland that he would “end” him if necessary to achieve the goal.
Strickland responded with an expletive-laden retort, refusing to yield to Ospreay’s demands. The confrontation turned physical when Ospreay struck Strickland with a right hand. As Strickland recovered on the mat, Prince Nana handed him a steel chain, but the Death Riders intervened before he could act. Ospreay departed the scene accompanied by his training partners, signaling a strategic alliance amid the chaos.
