Steve Witkoff, special envoy to U.S. President Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner visited the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee on Thursday. According to a source familiar with the matter, the visit was intended to consult with experts who may play a strategic role in upcoming nuclear negotiations with Iran.
The source, confirming an earlier report by Axios, did not provide further specifics regarding the discussions.
President Trump has maintained a firm stance that any agreement aimed at ending the conflict with Iran must include a strict provision ensuring that Tehran does not develop a nuclear weapon.
Iran is estimated to possess approximately 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium, including materials located at sites targeted by U.S. airstrikes a year ago. Meanwhile, Tehran continues to deny the development of a nuclear weapon and insists on its right to maintain uranium enrichment capabilities.
