It is Wordle Wednesday, dear Wordlers, and the sole focus is cracking a riddle! (Imagine reading the entire note in an Australian accent à la Chris Hemsworth from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, since that was the voice I had running through my head while I snicker-snackered at the keys). Here is your riddle, team war-boys:
I am known as the end of all.
When others fall short, I stand tall.
Pull me from a glove and love remains;
Steal me from world and the word remains.
Old Rome once counted me as fifty times.
And bells still ring me twice, but not so chimes.
I open light and end the spell.
I’m most of ill and half of hell.
Now guess my name, and guess it well.
I’ll post the answer tomorrow! On to the Wordle!

Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can verify your Wordle score using Wordle Bot right here.
SWEAR had a lucky W but wasn’t lucky enough. WIDOW (as in Widow’s Bay!) only slashed the 33 words I had left to 6, and WITTY was not witty at all, leaving me with just two. I felt rather WIMPY getting this one in four, alas.
Competitive Wordle Score

A tie for four means 0 points for both myself and the Bot. Our totals remain:
Erik: 15 points
Wordle Bot: -2 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
“Wimpy” comes from Wimpy, the timid, ineffectual hamburger-loving character J. Wellington Wimpy in the comic strip Popeye. By the 1930s, his name had become an adjective meaning weak, cowardly, or feeble.
