Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis
I review Wordle Bot each day to analyze my guessing game, and you can view your score on the Wordle Bot site.
I eventually lost a round to Wordle Bot, whose performance was not exceptional. Using CRANE as my opening left me with 64 possible words, and I considered SPOUT as my second guess but only had eight attempts remaining. After falling into a repeated pattern, DRILL revealed four green letters, and FRILL maintained those letters without progress. Finally, GRILL solved the puzzle on the fifth guess.
Competitive Wordle Score

I received a -1 for guessing in five and another -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot earned 0 for guessing in four and 1 for beating me. Although our August scores are close, I maintain a substantial lead:
Erik: 24 points
Wordle Bot: 4 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 yields 3 points; in 2, 2 points; in 3, 1 point; in 4, 0 points; in 5, -1 point; in 6, -2 points; and missing the Wordle costs -3 points.
- If you defeat your opponent you earn 1 point; a tie yields 0; a loss incurs -1 point. Sum these to calculate your daily score, or track a running total.
- Friday rounds award double points (2XP), whether positive or negative.

Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term “Grill” derives from the French “gril,” meaning “gridiron,” which stems from the Latin “craticula,” meaning “small grate.” It originally described the metal framework for cooking over fire, and later came to denote the cooking method and the appliance itself.
