New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be hosted across Vadodara and Mumbai.
The tournament is slated to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027. In a highly anticipated opening clash, the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, will face off against the former title-holders, Mumbai Indians, in Vadodara.
A total of 22 matches, including the playoffs, will be contested over three weeks across the two cities.
Tournament Kick-off in Vadodara
The initial phase of the competition will take place in Vadodara, beginning with the rivalry between RCB and Mumbai Indians on January 14. Vadodara has solidified its position as a premier hub for women’s cricket in India; the Kotambi Stadium notably hosted the 2026 final, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the trophy with a six-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals.
Following the opening stretch, the action will move to Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium, which will host the remaining 11 fixtures starting January 26. The league stage will conclude on February 3, determining the top teams advancing to the playoffs.
Playoffs and Grand Finale
The intensity will peak during the Eliminator on Friday, February 5, where the teams finishing second and third in the standings will battle for a spot in the championship match.
The league leader will earn a direct path to the Final, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, at the Brabourne Stadium. All matches throughout the tournament are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST.
Defending Champions Meet Former Winners
Royal Challengers Bengaluru enter the 2027 season as the team to beat after their triumph in the 2026 final. Facing Mumbai Indians in the opener provides an immediate challenge, as both franchises have emerged as the league’s dominant forces.
Mumbai Indians, the inaugural champions from 2023, will be looking to start their campaign with momentum as they strive to regain the title.
