WWE Abandons Trademark Filing for Lola Vice’s “Vice City” Branding

WWE has abandoned its effort to register “Vice City” as a trademark ahead of Lola Vice’s move to the company’s main roster.

WWE filed the trademark application on August 4. The filing was marked dead and abandoned after the company submitted an express abandonment on September 2.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office processed the abandonment on September 21 and stated that no further action would be taken on the application.

The trademark records did not provide a reason for WWE’s decision.

When the application was first submitted, fans speculated that it could conflict with the “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” video game. However, the application never advanced far enough for any potential conflict to be evaluated. Several other “Vice City” trademarks also exist in unrelated industries.

Despite withdrawing the application, WWE continues to use the “Vice City” name on television and social media in connection with Lola Vice.

Vice formally joined the Raw roster during the September 21 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Adam Pearce introduced her as the brand’s newest member.

Her official main-roster in-ring debut took place one week earlier in Mexico City, where she defeated Raquel Rodriguez and Kelani Jordan in a qualifying match to secure a place in the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

Vice will compete for the briefcase at WWE Money In The Bank on October 10 in New Orleans.
